You need to know your budget and needs to determine which company is right for you. Generally you can assume you get what you pay for. Lower prices usually means less support, slower serving of pages or lack of certain "goodies". There are some hosts that have very high prices and that will not guarantee the best service either. If you're on a shoestring budget sometimes you have to live with what you can afford hoping to get better service down the road. There are also many free hosts. Many are quite good BUT you will have to make big sacrifices. They generally offer very little space and/or put pop ups or other advertising banners on your pages. Some also will not allow you to sell merchandise or receive income from the free space they provide because it conflicts with the advertisers they have on your site. If this does not bother you it's the way to go! Tech support is usually lacking or difficult to get at best.

Always read the fine print before chosing your web host. Each has their own of terms of service (TOS) agreement. Keep in mind that if you are ever unhappy with your hosting service you have the right to change at any time (unless you missed something in the fine print!)
